Because of supporters like you, clients like Zack are returning to work, revisiting passions, and creating new ones.

Life is not always linear: change comes, welcome or unwelcome, and it can often disrupt what is safe and familiar to us. Our stroke survivors have taught us that although change can be hard, it is through this change that new opportunities for growth, new sources of happiness, and new perspectives on life can be revealed. Thanks to our community’s support, Austin Speech Labs provides clients with the therapy they need to navigate these changes and rebuild their lives. As this year of change and rebuilding comes to a close, we ask that you please consider including Austin Speech Labs in your year-end giving. Because of supporters like you, clients like Zack are returning to work, revisiting passions, and creating new ones. Zack suffered a stroke three and a half years ago at the age of 40. Prior to his stroke, Zack was the Executive Chef at Swift’s Attic, and even appeared on the cooking show Chopped. Since his stroke, Zack has worked tirelessly to get back the use of his arm and to improve his communication skills at Austin Speech Labs so he can return to work. Though cooking is still a passion for Zack (he created a Zoom cooking class for stroke survivors during the pandemic!), he realized that working as a professional chef is not an option for the time being. However, Zack was determined to make his own living. Recently, he got a part-time job customizing cars. His wife, Jenna, said, “If you have ever seen one of his vehicles, he is always tinkering, personalizing, and adding accessories for camping and off-roading. We are so thankful that Austin Speech Labs helped Zack at every step from research, prep and to finally land his new job! Don’t worry y’all, he’s still cooking for me at home.” Zack has found a new source of happiness, is pursuing something he always enjoyed, and is rebuilding his life in ways he never imagined. Please donate today to help clients like Zack. Together, we can reach our year-end goal of $35,000 so we can continue to help stroke survivors improve their communication skills and improve their lives. Thank you for your support! We wish you healing and happiness this holiday season.
